So many patients present to the emergency department every year with some form of neurologically related symptom, from headaches, to non-specific paraesthesiae, to back pain, and choosing the right type of scan can be very important. 


The BMJ brings us a guide from three neuroradiologists, who very carefully explain specific useful investigations in some of the above situations, with specific rules and guidelines to follow. A great article with some excellent discussion and images – take some time out to read it here
