Pacemakers are the end of the line for some rhythms – there’s simply no other way of getting around complete heart block. Having one isn’t so fun – the box on the chest, having the leads fall out of position – and then having them interrogated every now and then with the magnet over the top as well. Medtronic has decided to make things a little more compact…
This little pacemaker, seen on the left in the picture above, gets implanted directly into the ventricular wall, and then can be interrogated and configured wirelessly – awesome.
