review | hand hygiene

You may laugh and think that you don’t need to be told to wash your hands, until you realise that such a simple task is done incredibly poorly across many hospitals, across different departments, and leads to a great deal of patient morbidity and mortality. I kid you not, hand hygiene saves lives – so what do you need to know?

The folks at NEJM have provided a nice little video summary for you to watch, talking about techniques, when to use gloves – even religious issues! Check the video out here. If you’re looking for other great stuff to watch, they’ve got a whole collection of videos over there – from simple IV cannula insertion up to CVC insertion. Definitely worth a watch.
