It’s just unreal

In the old days, when an organ failed – well, it failed. Then we slowly developed support systems, like the iron lung, the mechanical heart, medications to encourage the body to keep going. Then replacement parts came along; artificial valves, prosthetic limbs…which eventually lead to this – an artificial eye, and so much more.

Rob Spence lost his eyesight after a shotgun accident, and had an artificial eye implanted, which feeds out to a wireless video system to be viewed. To promote a new video game (Deus Ex: Human Revolution), he’s gone around the world to find the latest in prosthetic awesomeness.

A great watch, and a remarkable view on how much we have achieved – and what’s coming soon. Check out the EyeBorg project here.
